CAMPINAS, Brazil (ICIS)--Brazil energy producer Petrobras has interrupted petroleum coke (petcoke) production at its Duque de Caxias (Reduc) refinery in Rio de Janeiro state following a fire on Saturday night, the company confirmed on Monday.
No one was hurt in the blaze, and no harm was done to the environment, Petrobras said.
A commission has been chosen to investigate the causes of the accident, and the company is cooperating with authorities, the Brazil producer said.
Reduc processes about 55 products in 43 units and is one the country's largest refineries.
This is the second accident that occurred at a Petrobras refinery in about a month’s time.
A fire in November at the company’s refinery in the city of Araucaria in the state of Parana led to a stop in production.
