SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Qifa Chemical is planning to start up its 40,000 tonne/year maleic anhydride (MA) plant at Dongying in Shandong province in early February after the Chinese New Year holiday, a company source said on Monday.

The holidays will start on 31 January and end of 6 February.

The new plant will need around 45,000 tonne/year of n-butane feedstock if running at full load, according to the source.

Qifa Chemical’s own n-butane production is approximately 20,000 tonne/year and it will outsource the remaining in spot markets to feed the MA plant, added the source.
