SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Japan’s Daicel Chemical Industries is targeting to resume full production at its acetic acid plant in Himeiji, Hyogo prefecture, in the latter half of February following unspecified mechanical issues in end-January, a company official said on Thursday.
The 420,000 tonne/year acetic acid plant has been running at reduced rates since end-January, down from the previous 100% capacity, according to the official.
“The plant is in the recovery stage and we target to reach 100% production in mid-to-end February,” the official said. However, he declined to elaborate on the exact operating rates as well as the “small mechanical problem” experienced at the plant.
The official added that the duration of the reduced output did not have a significant impact on the domestic market as the producer has adequate stocks.
