LONDON (ICIS)--The mild weather conditions seen in the Mediterranean has resulted in better gasoline consumption in the region, sources said on Friday.

The first quarter is traditionally seen as a period of low gasoline demand in Europe, with the cold weather deterring many drivers from undertaking long journeys.

However, the mild conditions seen in the Mediterranean has resulted in a change to the norm.

“Gasoline demand is still decent for the time of the year,” one trader said.

Sources saw methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) enquiries totalling 10,500 tonnes circulating in the spot chemical tanker shipping market this week, all headed towards Italy.
