SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Singapore’s paraxylene (PX) export volumes fell by 0.7% month on month in January to 67,565 tonnes, official data showed on Monday.

Exports to the key China market fell to 19,279 tonnes, from the December 2013 volume of 21,529 tonnes, according to data from International Enterprise (IE) Singapore.

According to several market participants, export orders to the China markets fell because of the lower operating rates at downstream purified terephthalic acid (PTA) plants in the country.

The average operating rate at PTA facilities in China stood at 75-80% in January 2014, ICIS data showed.
