SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Singapore’s import volumes of liquid caustic soda in January fell by 20.2% month on month to 12,062 tonnes, official data showed on Tuesday.
In contrast, its export volume of the material increased by 27.7% from February to 244 tonnes, according to data from International Enterprise (IE) Singapore.
Import orders fell as some buyers have shut down their facilities ahead of the Lunar New Year holidays, according to a Singapore-based market participant.
Sellers, on the other hand, may have increased exports to keep their inventories lean ahead of the holidays, the market participant said.
The Lunar New Year falls on 31 January.
