LONDON (ICIS)--Nitrogen fertilizer producer Petrochemical Industries Company (PIC) will perform scheduled turnarounds at its ammonia and urea plants in Kuwait during the fourth quarter of 2014, a company source confirmed on Thursday.

The two urea manufacturing units at Shuaiba, which produce a combined 3,000 tonnes/day of urea, will be taken offline for around four weeks from mid-October, a person with knowledge of the maintenance schedule disclosed.

He added the site's two ammonia lines, which produce a combined 2,000 tonnes/day, will be shut down towards the end of October and remain out of action until late November.

Ammonia and urea production at a plant in Sitra, Bahrain, run by Gulf Petrochemical Industries Co (GPIC), will continue as normal during the Shuaiba shutdown, with routine maintenance planned at that facility in February 2015, the source concluded.

PIC is a global manufacturer and marketer of petrochemicals and is the petrochemical arm of Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC).
