LONDON (ICIS)--Bisphenol A (BPA) trade into and out of the EU declined in 2013, data from statistics agency Eurostat showed this week.

EU firms imported 39,772 tonnes in 2013, down 2% on the 40,631 tonnes in 2012. Exports fell 9% in the same period, from 11,171 tonnes to 10,112 tonnes.

Weaknesses in the downstream epoxy resins market explains the lower level of imports, while falling exports reflects European BPA producers scaling back production in response to squeezed margins.
