SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s CNOOC Bitumen (Taizhou) is set to halt bitumen production in Jiangsu province for about two weeks from 10 April, as its 1.5m tonne/year crude distillation unit (CDU) undergoes routine maintenance, a company source said on Monday.

The CDU in eastern China produces 1,700 tonnes/day of bitumen, the source said, adding that the company’s current stocks are low.

The shutdown may not have a material impact on bitumen prices in eastern China, as the region has an oversupply of the material, industry sources said.

In 2013, CNOOC Bitumen (Taizhou) produced 673,000 tonnes of bitumen.
