HOUSTON (ICIS)--US acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) exports for January rose by 25% from the same month last year and by 41% month over month, according to data from the US International Trade Commission (ITC) made available on Monday.

Exports increased to 8,288 tonnes from 6,614 tonnes in January 2013 and from 5,886 tonnes in December 2013.

The January year-on-year increase was mainly due to higher US ACN shipments to Mexico, Canada, Singapore and Peru.

Meanwhile, the US imported 14,569 tonnes of ABS in January, a 29% year-on-year increase from 11,325 tonnes and a 36% month-on-month increase from 10,685 tonnes.

Major US producers of ABS include INEOS ABS, SABIC, Styrolution and Styron.
