SINGAPORE (ICIS)--India’s Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) is expected to conduct scheduled maintenance at its polyvinyl chloride (PVC) facility in Hazira in early April, a source close to the company said on Tuesday.

The shutdown at the 360,000 tonne/year PVC plant is expected to last until mid-April, the source said.

"The maintenance activity has to be completed before monsoon since reactors cannot be opened during the monsoon season," the source said.

The plant was previously shut in March 2013 following a shortage in the availability of feedstock vinyl chloride monomer (VCM).
