LONDON (ICIS)--Russia-based SIBUR has registered the propylene produced at its Tobolsk-Polymer site under the EU’s programme for registration and authorisation of chemicals, the company said on Tuesday.

Chemical producer SIBUR uses propylene as the main feedstock at its Tobolsk propane dehydrogenation site. With the registration, SIBUR can potentially export that product into the EU’s 28 countries.

“The registration of this polypropylene feedstock under the EU Reach Regulations is another milestone confirming the Company's commitment to high quality standards and use of modern, environmentally friendly technologies,” said the company.

The Tobolsk-Polymer complex comprises two units - a 510,000 tonne/year propane dehydrogenation (PDH) propylene production unit and a 500,000 tonne/year polypropylene (PP) production unit.

Reach is the registration, evaluation, authorisation and restriction of chemicals programme in the EU, which came into force in 2007.
