HOUSTON (ICIS)--BASF is implementing a 4 cent/lb ($88/tonne) list and off-list price increase on tricotyl trimellitate (TOTM) and other plasticizers in the US, effective on 1 April, the company announced on Friday.
BASF attributed the price hike to price increases in raw materials.
The increase is for the company’s Palatinol TOTM, TOTM-I, 810TM and 810TM-I plasticizers. TOTM-I is TOTM that has been stabilised with a butane antioxidant. TOTM is used in wire and cable insulation and in the interior of automobiles
Recently, sources in the plasticizer market have said that problems at a US plant producing feedstock for TOTM could drive prices up for the material.
The current ICIS-assessed price range for TOTM is 140-159 cents/lb.
