Saudi Polymers shut HDPE, PP units due to feedstock shortage

PP goes into making packaging materialsSHANGHAI (ICIS)–Saudi Polymers shut down its high density PE (HDPE) and polypropylene (PP) units at Al-Jubail in mid-March due to a shortage of feedstock, industry sources said.

The company operates two HDPE units with a capacity of 550,000 tonnes/year each and a 400,000 tonne/year PP plant, according to ICIS data.

The plants are expected to be restarted soon with little or no impact on PE/PP market, a source close to the company said.

Saudi Polymers was not immediately available for comment.
