LONDON (ICIS)--European epichlorohydrin (ECH) prices in March have generally rolled over from February due to a combination of flat feedstock costs, reduced competition from cheap Asian material and weak demand in Europe.
An ECH producer said that it rolled over northwest European prices in March due to rising Asian prices that reflected market tightness as significant capacities were idled after weak pricing. It noted that strengthening Asian ECH prices are now more in line with European prices.
A buy-side source said that it received a rollover without negotiation, despite being a relatively small buyer.
Another buyer said that it received a rollover due to market instability.
"For March, rollover," the buyer said. "Higher costs, but the market is unstable. There is uncertainty over what should be done. Demand is steady but low."
