SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Zibo Qixiang Tengda Chemical will restart its 70,000 tonne/year methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) plant at Zibo in Shandong province next week, said a company source on Friday.

The MEK plant was shut down last week for maintenance that was scheduled to last for 10 days, according to the source.

The plant’s upcoming restart has boosted expectations of supply tightness easing within the region, several buyers said.

MEK import prices were higher by $5-$10/tonne from the previous week at $1,400-1,410/tonne CFR NE Asia during the week ended 14 March, ICIS data showed.
