SINGAPORE (ICIS)--South Korea’s Lotte Chemical plans to restart its aromatics unit in Daesan on 24 March after shutting the unit for catalyst regeneration early this week, a company source said on Friday.

The Daesan-based aromatics unit that has a nameplate capacity to produce 240,000 tonnes/year of benzene, 120,000 tonnes/year of toluene and 72,000 tonnes/year of solvent xylene was taken off line on 17 March, the source said.

In Yeosu, Lotte’s aromatics unit that produces 180,000 tonnes/year of benzene, 84,000 tonnes/year of toluene and 60,000 tonnes/year of solvent xylene is currently operating at 100%.
