SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Shanghai Chlor-Alkali Chemical plans to shut its 720,000 dry metric tonne (dmt)/year caustic soda plant at Caojing Chemical Park in Shanghai on 3 April for 14 days of maintenance, a company source said on Friday.

The shutdown is in tandem with the maintenance of downstream plants that consume chlorine.

The maintenance shutdown will result in a reduction in the supply of liquid caustic soda and may lead to a rise in caustic soda prices, according to a local market player.
