SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Sinopec Baling Co is expected to restart its 60,000 tonne/year methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) unit at Yueyang in Hunan province on 4 May, a company source said on Wednesday.

The unit was taken off line on 25 March following a turnaround at feedstock supplier Sinopec Changling’s unit, the source added.

Sinopec Changling shut its 8m tonnes/year refinery in Hunan on 23 March for a turnaround, according to a source at the refinery.

Sinopec Baling typically produces around 4,000 tonnes/month of MTBE, the majority of which flows into Sinopec Changling for gasoline production.
