DUBAI (ICIS)--International Diol Company, an affiliate of Saudi International Petrochemical Company (Sipchem) has shut down its butanediol (BDO) plant for scheduled turnaround, the parent company said on Tuesday.

“Sipchem announces that the stoppage of butanediol plant started from 1 April 2014 for 35 days’ duration for a scheduled maintenance of all plant units and facilities,” it said in a statement issued to Saudi stock exchange.

“This stoppage will be used to complete the tie-in of the expanded units to the existing plant facilities,” Sipchem said.

It is expected that this shutdown of the BDO plant will have an estimated financial impact of Saudi riyals (SR) 5m in Sipchem’s net margin for the second quarter, the company said.

Established in 1999, Sipchem manufactures and markets methanol, BDO, tetrahydrofuran, acetic acid, acetic anhydride, vinyl acetate monomer, as well as carbon monoxide through its various affiliates.
