SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Taiwan-based Ho Tung Chemical Group has started commissioning one line at its new 80,000 tonne/year fatty alcohol plant in Jiangsu, China, a company source said late on Wednesday.
The line has a 40,000 tonne/year capacity.
Mid-cut C12-14 fatty alcohols output from the plant will be for captive consumption of its downstream production of fatty alcohol ethoxylate and sodium alcohol ether sulphate, industry sources said.
Ho Tung has yet to firm up the plant’s actual start-up schedule, partly on uncertainties in feedstock availability, the company source said.
But some sources close to the company said the plant in China was initially expected to start up in April.
The company is one of the biggest detergent surfactant makers in northeast Asia.
