SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Kumho Mitsui Chemicals (KMCI) could face a possible disruption of upstream supply of carbon monoxide (CO) to its methyl di-p-phenylene isocyanate (MDI) plant located in Yeosu, Jeollanamdo province, South Korea, according to market sources on Thursday.

The 200,000 tonne/year MDI unit may need to reduce or stop production for four days as a result, but details such as when it would begin, duration and the producer's course of action, have yet to be decided, a source close to the company said.

The MDI plant is currently running at full capacity, the source added.

KMCI is a joint venture between Japan’s Mitsui Chemicals and South Korea’s Kumho Petrochemicals.
