SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Japan’s Idemitsu Kosan has ramped up output at its styrene monomer (SM) units in Tokuyama after restarting them last week, a company source said on Friday.
“The units are currently operating at nearly full rates,” the source added.
The 120,000 tonne/year and 220,000 tonne/year SM units were shut on 14 March following an earthquake of 6.3 magnitude, which struck off Japan's southern island of Kyushu near the city of Oita.
Other SM producers in Japan include Denka, Asahi Kasei Chemicals and Nihon Oxirane Co.
