SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China's Sinopec Baling expects to conduct trial runs at its new 30,000 tonne/year solution styrene butadiene rubber (S-SBR) unit at Yueyang in Hunan province in end-April, a market source said on Friday.
The new S-SBR unit was transformed from one of the company's styrene-butadiene-styrene block co-polymer (SBS) lines, and the construction works at the unit started since the second half of last year, the source said.
Financial details of the project were not immediately available.
S-SBR is primarily used in high performance tyres, which are wear-resistant, heatproof, and age-resistant.
Tyre producers have to change the raw materials used in their production to achieve the requirements of some developed countries, in order to boost their exports amid trade barriers from those countries, a separate market source said.
