HOUSTON (ICIS)--German chemicals major BASF plans to start a maintenance turnaround at its oxo-alcohol plant in Freeport, Texas, late in the second quarter of 2014, a source at the company said on Thursday.

Capacities at the Freeport plant include 240,000 tonnes/year of n-butanol and 160,000 tonnes/year of 2-ethylhexanol.

A number of US oxo-alcohol producers have turnarounds scheduled for the second quarter, including a 30-day maintenance turnaround at Oxea's Bay City, Texas, facility starting in late April.

The length of the BASF turnaround was not disclosed.
