SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Japan’s C-Chem Co Ltd. is planning to restart its phthalic anhydride (PA) plant in Tobata, Oita prefecture, sometimes next week, a source close to the company said on Friday.

The 45,000 tonne/year line was taken off line in mid-March for regular maintenance, the source said.

The turnaround did not have an impact on supply to its domestic customers but exports in May are likely to be limited, the source added.

C-Chem is one of the two PA producers in Japan using naphthalene feedstock while another two Japanese producers are using orthoxylene (OX) feedstock.
