LONDON (ICIS)--Prices of northwest Europe butane cargoes and barges have fallen this week on weak demand and excellent availability, sources said on Friday.?xml:namespace>
Butane remains the feedstock of choice for cracking, but most petrochemical buyers are covered and the end of blending season means refineries have greater volumes to sell.
One petrochemical buyer said: “We crack a little bit of propane but mainly butane. Butane is a much easier market – a buyers’ market.”
A broker also suggested butane coaster demand is reduced as some buyers around the North Sea prepare for facility maintenance.
