HOUSTON (ICIS)--Spot prices for US isopropanol (IPA) widened slightly on Friday, as sources indicated that the spot market was seeing a small move upward.
The spot IPA range widened to 67-70 cents/lb ($1,477-1,543/tonne), a 1-cent/lb increase on the high end of the range.
The 70-cent mark had been rumoured for weeks, as sources said that the spot IPA market was seeing very slight increases. Sources confirmed that range this week.
Meanwhile, contract IPA prices fell by 5 cents/lb on Friday, as sources indicated that that segment of the market was seeing a price correction after prices spiked earlier this year. IPA contract prices fell to a range of 73-75 cents/lb.
Major US IPA suppliers are Dow Chemical, LyondellBasell, Haltermann, ExxonMobil and Shell.
