SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Import prices of linear alkyl benzene (LAB) in southeast Asia fell by $10-20/tonne to $1,770-1,810/tonne during the week ending 16 April, according to ICIS data.
The fall CFR (cost and freight) SE (southeast) Asia basis was attributed to healthy supply and recent decreases in raw material costs amid stable-to-weak demand in the region.
Buyers were said to be waiting for further price declines. According to a market player, buyers had seen no specific reasons for higher prices.
Deals concluded were indicated $10/tonne below last week’s range at $1,820/tonne CFR SE Asia for April/early May loading and mid-end May arrival.
Buying ideas were said to be below $1,800/tonne CFR SE Asia. A southeast Asia based trader said buyers were reluctant to accept price levels of $1,800/tonne CFR SE Asia.
According to a player, a workable discussion range was at $1,780-1,800/tonne CFR SE Asia
Selling ideas for bulk material from an India based seller were indicated at $1,790-1,800/tonne CFR SE Asia for April loading, however the seller had not received any bids.
