SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Jiangsu Sopo plans to shut its two acetic acid plants as well as its downstream solvent acetate plants at Zhenjiang, Jiangsu province for maintenance from 25 May to 10 June, a company official said on Thursday.
The producer operates two acetic acid plants with a combined production capacity of 1m tonnes/year.
The plants will be shut one after another for the overhaul, the official added.
Domestic acetic acid prices in the eastern China market were firmer at yuan (CNY) 3,200-3,500/tonne ($514-563/tonne) ex-tank on 17 April, versus CNY3,100-3,450/tonne ex-tank during the week ended 11 April, owing to tight supply amid a spate of acetic acid plant turnarounds.
