SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Japan’s KH Neochem will restart its 250,000 tonne/year oxo-alcohols facility at Yokkaichi in the Mie prefecture following a scheduled turnaround by the end of next week, a company source said on Thursday.
The facility, which has a 130,000 tonne/year n-butanol (NBA) plant and a 120,000 tonne/year of 2-ethylhexanol (2-EH) plant, has been shut since the week ended 14 March, the source said.
However, the source could not confirm the exact date that the plant will restart.
According to the source, the plant will be running at 80% capacity after its restart. The source added that the company will only ramp up the production rate of the plant if there is demand for spot cargoes from other parts of the east Asian region.
Market sources said that this restart is unlikely to have a large impact on the market as demand from the China market continues to be weak amid sufficient domestic supply.
