LONDON (ICIS)--Prices and conditions in the European butyl acetate (butac) market continue to hold steady, with no seasonal improvement of demand seen yet, participants said on Thursday.
“Absolutely business as usual, prices haven't moved,” one producer said. “I haven't seen a pickup [of demand] yet.”
A second producer said: “Prices are stable, volumes are stable. The typical pickup hasn't started yet.”
“The market is dead, prices are still somewhere at the same levels,” a distributor agreed.
Participants hope that a seasonal pickup of business will be seen following the Easter holiday, but some - particularly distributors - question whether there will be an improvement at all following weeks of stability.
