SINGAPORE (ICIS)–China’s Shanghai SECCO Petrochemical plans to resume its polypropylene (PP) and low density polyethylene (LLDPE) production in Shanghai this week, a source close to the company said on Monday.

Its 250,000 tonne/year PP plant was taken off line on 7 March for regular maintenance, the source added.

Its linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) line and high density polyethylene (HDPE) line – each with a capacity of 300,000 tonnes/year – were shut down on 10 March, the source said.

The HDPE unit was restarted on 15 April, the source added.

The supply of both PP and PE in the domestic market is expected to be affected given that Shanghai SECCO is one of the major producers in eastern China, local distributors said.
