LONDON (ICIS)--Both imports and exports of acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) in and out of the EU dropped year on year in February, according to data from statistics agency Eurostat on Tuesday.
ABS imports dropped from 13,861 tonnes in February 2013 to 13,601 tonnes in February 2014, a decrease of just under 2%.
At the same time, exports for ABS from the EU to the rest of the world dropped 7.7% year on year in February.
Several European ABS players said South Korean producers had been quiet in offering material to the European market in February this year, which could account for the slight reduction in imports.
South Korean ABS benefits from a reduced import duty of approximately 1.5% as part of the Free Trade Agreement the country holds with the EU.
