LONDON (ICIS)--Ethylene glycol (EG) exports out of the EU to the rest of the world were up significantly year on year in February 2014, data from European statistics agency Eurostat showed this week.

February 2014 exports amounted to 13,714 tonnes, compared with 4,835 tonnes in February 2013.

In February 2014, the mood in Europe – a net importer of ethylene glycols – was bearish, as antifreeze demand failed to match expectations and spot trade was limited. Upstream ethylene was also long.

Import activity meanwhile decreased  from 34,042 tonnes in February 2013, to 32,478 tonnes in February 2014.
