Please read in the third paragraph … 950,000 tonnes/year … instead of … 95,000 tonnes/year … A corrected story follows.

HOUSTON (ICIS)–US styrene producers on Thursday said they are either sold out of material or close to being sold out until June, as demand has picked up alongside reduced production from a major supplier.

Trade participants said with US styrene producer Americas Styrenics operating at 50% of capacity at its St James facility in Louisiana for four weeks, demand has increased.

The St James styrene facility, which went down in mid-April, has a combined styrene capacity of 950,000 tonnes/year, according to ICIS.

Market participants added that even though material was sold out for most suppliers, there may be availability from some traders.

Current styrene spot prices were discussed at 71.25-71.50 cents/lb FOB (free on board), down from 71.50-72.00 cents/lb FOB a week earlier, as styrene prices have followed benzene prices down slightly.
