DUBAI (ICIS)--The current shortage of linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) in India is supporting higher-price discussions of metallocene LLDPE (MLLDPE), at least two Mumbai traders said on Tuesday.

“Suppliers are raising prices of MLLDPE in tandem with high LLDPE prices. LLDPE prices are currently on the high side because of severe shortage,” a metallocene buyer In India said.

The shortage is triggered by supply disruptions of LLDPE units in Asia and firming demand from China, another Mumbai-based trader said.

MLLDPE prices in India were assessed at $1,740-1,800/tonne CFR (cost and freight) India Main Port for the week ended 30 April, according to ICIS data.
