Europe nylon 6,6 May contracts up €0.02/kg on demand, feedstocks

LONDON (ICIS)--European nylon 6,6 April contract prices rose by €0.2/kg on the back of strong demand from the automotive sector and a €19/tonne rise in the feedstock cyclohexane (CX) April contract price, buyers and sellers confirmed on Tuesday.

Automotive demand has been strengthening throughout 2014 to date because of macroeconomic recovery.

Nylon 6,6 can be manufactured either from adipic acid - which is downstream of CX - or from adiponitrile via butadiene (BD) The April BD contract price rolled over.

Virgin polymer nylon 6,6 April contact prices settled at €2.74-2.82/kg FD (free delivered) NWE (northwest Europe).
