LONDON (ICIS)--Metallocene linear low density polyethylene (MLLDPE) players are discussing May pricing, and while some sellers are still talking about higher prices buyers are expecting to be able to get away with a rollover, sources said on Friday.

Spot MLLDPE prices have eased slightly, with sources saying that levels of €1,380/tonne FD (free delivered) NWE (northwest Europe) are now too high to work.

Prices as low as €1,320/tonne are still talked in the market, but the bulk of business remains towards the middle of the €1,320-1,370/tonne FD NWE range.

Competition between linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) grades remains fierce and imports of MLLDPE, coupled with domestic sellers keen to retain market share, leads buyers to expect little change in May pricing.

May prices will continue to be discussed until the end of the month as retroactive pricing remains a feature of the LLDPE sector in many regions.
