HOUSTON (ICIS)--US exports of methyl di-p-phenylene isocyanate (MDI) in March 2014 were down by 10% from March 2013, according to data made available by the US International Trade Commission (ITC) on Friday.

MDI exports in March 2014 declined to 969 tonnes from 1,072 tonnes in 2013.

Month on month, exports were down by 22% in March 2014 from 1,249 tonnes in February 2014, the ITC said.

Through March, however, exports increased by 12% to 3,168 tonnes, compared with 2,826 tonnes in the first three months of 2013, according to the ITC.

The increase from 2013 to 2014 was a result of larger volumes being shipped this year to Mexico, Taiwan, Argentina and Hong Kong.

Top destinations for US MDI in 2014 were Mexico (1,278 tonnes), Brazil (795 tonnes) and Taiwan (318 tonnes).
