PATTAYA, Thailand (ICIS)--Asahimas Chemical (ASC) is on track to expand the capacity of its chlor-alkali and vinyls facilities at Cilegon in Indonesia by the end of 2015, a company source said on Thursday.

ASC will raise the capacity for caustic soda by 200,000 dry metric tonnes (dmt)/year to 700,000 dmt/year, while the production of vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) will double to 800,000 tonnes/year, the source said.

The source was speaking at the sidelines of the Asia Petrochemical Industry Conference (APIC) held in Pattaya, Thailand. The conference runs on 15-16 May.

For polyvinvyl chloride (PVC), the supply is set to increase by 250,000 tonnes/year from the current 300,000 tonnes/year, the source said.

The expansion plans will double the commpany's feedstock ethylene demand to around 400,000 tonnes/year, the source added.
