PATTAYA, Thailand (ICIS)--Korea Kumho Petrochemical Co (KKPC) has been operating its 340,000 tonne/year butadiene rubber (BR) plant at Yeosu in South Korea at around 50% due to the weak market conditions, a company source said on Friday.

The source was speaking at the sidelines of the Asia Petrochemical Industry Conference (APIC) held in Pattaya from 15-16 May.

The company is currently running its 560,000 tonne/year styrene butadiene rubber (SBR) plant in Ulsan at around 80%, the source added.

The BR and SBR plants have been operating at reduced rates since early this year, the source said.

KKPC is Asia’s largest synthetic rubber producer.
