APIC '14: PETRONAS’ RAPID to produce LDPE, mLLDPE, PP, PC, rubbers

PATTAYA, Thailand (ICIS)--PETRONAS' Refinery and Petrochemical Integrated Development (RAPID) project in Pengerang, Johor, Malaysia will include facilities to produce polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE), polycarbonate and synthetic rubbers, an industry source said on Friday.

It will include a low density PE/ethylene vinyl acetate (LDPE/EVA) swing plant of 120,000-150,000 tonne/year capacity, and a 350,000 tonne/year hexene-based metallocene linear LDPE plant, the source said at the sidelines of APIC.

The project would also include two PP plants with a combined capacity of 650,000-900,000 tonne/year capacity, he said.

The PC and synthetic rubber plant will each have a capacity of 100,000-150,000 tonne/year, he said.

APIC is being held in Pattaya, Thailand, from 15-16 May.
