Japan's May naphtha imports for ethylene production rises by 13%

TOKYO (ICIS)--Japan’s naphtha imports for ethylene production increased by 13% to 1.11m tonnes in May from the previous month, official data from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) showed on Tuesday.

Overall naphtha imports for the petrochemical sector rose by 13% month on month to $1.05bn, the data showed.

The average price of naphtha stood at $947.5/tonne, a 0.2% increase from a month earlier, according to the METI.
