SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s domestic acrylate esters markets are likely to remain weak in the short-term as downstream plants continued to run at reduced rates on poor demand, industry sources said on Friday.
In June, butyl acrylate (butyl-A) prices fell by an average of around 3% to CNY11,600/tonne ($1,868/tonne) DEL (delivered), according to Chemease, an ICIS service in China.
China is in oversupply of acrylic acid and acrylate esters, and still, new capacities are being built, market sources said.
Meanwhile, production of the chemicals at Jiangsu Jurong Chemical’s manufacturing site in Yancheng was disrupted in late June following a fire.
The blaze that lasted about 12 hours damaged the 2-ethylhexanol (2-EH), methyl and ethyl acrylate plants at the site, according to media reports.
