SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Plant operating rates of polyacetal (POM) manufacturers in China fell to an average of 46% on Tuesday from 54% one week ago, ICIS data showed.

This decrease was a result of the shutdown of Tianye Chemical's 60,000 tonne/year unit that began late last week or early this week. The plant, which is located in Hohhot, Mongolia, has three lines, and will be shut for around one month for annual maintenance and will be restarted end-July/early August, according to China-based traders.

However, market participants say that the low supply in China’s domestic market is unlikely to have an upward pressure on POM import prices because of the seasonal lull starting this month.
