HOUSTON (ICIS)--US polyethylene (PE) producer LyondellBasell declared force majeure on PE out of its plants in Matagorda and Victoria, Texas, sources said Wednesday.
In a 9 July customer letter obtained by ICIS, the company said it has “experienced significant feedstock supply disruptions” at those facilities.
The letter did not state what the feedstock disruptions were, or how long they were expected to last. However, the company also declared force majeure on ethylene out of La Porte, Texas.
The letter did not discuss allocation levels for PE.
A company spokesman did not immediately return a phone call seeking comment.
LyondellBasell has 695,000 tonnes/year of high density polyethylene (HDPE) capacity at its Matagorda, Texas plant and 260,000 tonnes/year of HDPE capacity at its Victoria, Texas plant, according to ICIS Plants and Projects.
