HOUSTON (ICIS)--US urea imports in May 2014 increased by 32% from the same month a year earlier, according to data made available by the US International Trade Commission (ITC) this week.
Urea imports rose to 575,154 tonnes from 437,225 tonnes in May 2013. Imports climbed higher during the month mainly because of increased product from Oman.
Despite the year on year increase, May imports declined from the 963,427 tonnes in April 2014.
Oman at 147,260 tonnes was the major source of US urea imports, followed by the United Arab Emirates at 101,336 tonnes and Russia at 75,141 tonnes.
Other sources included Qatar, Canada and Egypt.
