HOUSTON (ICIS)--Eastman Chemical is seeking off-list price increases of 4 cents/lb ($88/tonne) on oxo-alcohols n-butanol (NBA) and isobutanol (IBA) in North and Latin America, effective on 1 August or as contracts allow, the company said in an announcement made available on Wednesday.
Eastman Chemical said that the price increase is due to tight market conditions and increased demand. It has implemented a formal sales control plan for NBA.
Eastman’s facility in Longview, Texas, has a capacity of 137,000 tonnes/year.
A number of producers are separately seeking price increases on oxo-alcohols for August, including Oxea, Dow Chemical and Sasol. In June, a number of producers separately announced price increases of 3 cents/lb for NBA and IBA, effective on 1 July.
NBA producers in the US include Oxea, BASF, Dow Chemical, Eastman Chemical, Sasol and Texmark Chemicals.
