SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Shenyang Paraffin Wax Chemical has shut down its 80,000 tonne/year crude acrylic acid and 100,000 tonne/year acrylate ester plants at Shenyang in Liaoning province on 16 July because of mechanical issues, a company source said on Thursday.

The shutdown was caused by mechanical issues at its acrylic acid plant, the source said. While the company has yet to give an exact restart date, there is an initial schedule to restart the plant after 15 working days, the source added.

This shutdown is likely to relieve the supply pressure in the market and could boost trading sentiment in a persistently weak market, market sources said.
